You really don’t have to go far out of Lisbon to find yourself in wilderness. Many of the more adventurous walks are unsigned and unmarked and many of the trails are dependent on being walked regularly; if they don’t they quickly get covered by foliage. They require a little effort to follow but are well worth it. All of these hikes require a good level of physical fitness.

We offer alternatives that help you escape the crowds, parking hassles and the summer onshore winds. Four of the most stunning beaches are a walk away from the cape itself, which is an option for those who catch the bus from Cascais to Cabo da Roca. Although the access to most of the beaches is challenging with demanding cliff walks and steep trails, we believe the rewards will speak for themselves.


Having two protected nature parks on its doorstep, the Lisbon region has many hiking trails for you to enjoy. Even so, hiking, but for many of us, is emotionally and physically challenging. A walk in nature doesn't have to long and hard, instead turn to nature to soothe and heal. Spending more time in nature is good for you in both direct and subtle ways. The walk follows the trail south of the Cabo da Roca monument and descends along a steep trail into the valley. Stopping above mainland Europe's last beach. Following the cliff trail, we pass Assentiz beach, impressive granite boulders at the Forte do Espinhaco and through the beautiful Ribeira do Louriçal.
